Assessment
The wide range of assessment strategies employed at Chobham Academy informs curriculum design and student intervention, while focusing on maximising progress and raising attainment for all. A personalised assessment and reporting system, in conjunction with excellent teaching that impacts positively on learning and progress, enables all our students to reflect successfully on feedback received from teacher, peer, and self-assessments, as well as on their own targets for improvement. Assessment for Learning is at the heart of the teaching and learning process as it empowers students to take ownership of their progress and attainment.
In addition to formative assessment which allows teachers to evaluate students’ understanding of key concepts and skills on a daily basis, students sit regular, formal, in-school summative assessments. These summative assessments appraise how well students have retained, retrieved and applied learning over a period of time. At Key Stage 3, students’ comprehension is evaluated against the holistic Learning Objectives and Assessment criteria teachers have developed whilst redesigning their curricula for the academic year 2020-2021, whilst, at Key States 4 and 5, regular summative assessment allows teachers to make judgments about students’ understanding relative to normalised, national standards.
